Kamakura Day trip Sep 2013, Enoshima Special

Kamakura Day trip Sep Enoshima
Finally the end of my day tour on 19th Sep 2013 at Enoshima, Kamakura!

Kamakura Day trip Sep Enoshima iwaya caves dock
Enoshima is a small touristy offshore island. Unfortunately, the Iwaya caves there had to be shut down due to repairs from the typhoon. That's why the dock was empty and I felt disappointed like the guy in the photo looking down the waters...

Anyway I could still go over with the causeway bridge!

Kamakura Day trip Sep Enoshima samuel cocking garden
The main attraction was the Enoshima Samuel Cocking Garden.

Be careful of bees!

Kamakura Day trip Sep Enoshima samuel cocking garden
Great dating spot... or obaasans (aunties) chill out place.

Kamakura Day trip Sep Enoshima samuel cocking garden
I see butterflies!!!

Kamakura Day trip Sep Enoshima samuel cocking garden hummingbird moth bee
and umm... a bee? a moth?
(Google replies: "hummingbird moth" or "bumblebee moth")
Wow...

Kamakura Day trip Sep Enoshima samuel cocking garden tower
I bought the ticket that included entry into this award-winning tower.

Inside the lift on my way up!

Took a panoramic shot, proved that the earth is round :P

Kamakura Day trip Sep Enoshima samuel cocking garden tower
I seldom get to see an endless horizon!!! :DDDD

Kamakura Day trip Sep Enoshima samuel cocking garden tower
So I was wondering if I could walk down the stairs to exit the tower and admire the view on my way down...

Kamakura Day trip Sep Enoshima samuel cocking garden tower
...ummm...

Kamakura Day trip Sep Enoshima samuel cocking garden tower
...hmm... seems like no way to exit halfway...
...ok I will return upstairs to take the lift!

Kamakura Day trip Sep Enoshima samuel cocking garden cactus
Back at the gardens...with cactuses!?

Moth?

Cat... for sure.

Nice decorations here and there to make the place more unique and local. Not like Singapore, we tear down everything and cover them with new concrete and fresh coat of paint.

Kamakura Day trip Sep Enoshima seafood hotate
Thought I should try some seafood since Enoshima is an island, should be very fresh?

Kamakura Day trip Sep Enoshima seafood hotate

Kamakura Day trip Sep Enoshima seafood hotate
YUMMY! Should have bought more :P

Kamakura Day trip Sep Enoshima sunset
I stood on the bridge on my way back to wait for sunset along with other tourists.

Kamakura Day trip Sep Enoshima fishing
There were men "standing" here and there on the water to fish. I even saw fishes popping out of the water!

5.35pm... :)

Kamakura Day trip Sep Enoshima moon rise
...and at the opposite, the moon rose. It happened to be the 15th day of the 8th month on the lunar calendar, when the moon would appear the roundest and brightest.

Kamakura Day trip Sep Enoshima station
So this marked the end of my adventure on this nice island :)

  1. I love Enoshima! :D
No photo of Mt. Fuji? Does that mean you couldn't see it on that day?
Err ... I wish it was only bees, but there are suzumebachi (killer hornets). I hate them so much. They can kill you with one sting! ;___; ....
There's a rumor that you can survive the first sting, but that it becomes dangerous from the second sting onwards.

    Beautiful photos! :D

    1. I didn't see it O_Olll
Well you know I have no luck with Ms Fuji...

I know about those hornets, luckily nothing happened :P
I heard you shouldn't wear dark coloured clothes... hmmm

    2. You know that I'm not very lucky with Mt. Fuji, either. ;) .... :(
Yes, but I don't know if it's true. They say no dark colors and no perfume. As most Japanese (and even me) have dark hair, they also suggest wearing a light cap or hat. T___T .....

    3. I'm Asian with black hair but I don't find my head a magnet XD

  2. He-he, nice pictures. Wonderful sunset. Evil cat, noble mothra and yummy food. I like a tower, and it is shame on Eva for riding elevator :P Thanks.

    1. Hahaha.... I will go down the stairs if there's a brave guy with me lol XDDDD

    2. He-he, I think that the big problem here is to allure 'a brave guy' up the stairs. I mean: that enterprise looks quite risky, and real bravery is a very lazy business ....

      ewww ...

    3. That's the whole point of saving a damsel in distress :P

  3. Great pictures as always. So whats the deal with the satis anyhow? what is their purpuse if they don't go all the way down? Crazy and useless :P

Lucky to have seen the sunse and the moon in all its glory, and the pictures will help you rememeber that lucky day :)

    1. Haha... I have no idea about satis... but Japanese don't do that.

      Hehe, yeah I definitely miss that feeling of freedom and closeness with nature. Singapore is a very urbanised city and my view is all blocked by neighbouring high-rise flats... -_-;;
